On 5th Avenue

The Wrapup, watercolor on Etsy, sold 5.5" x 7.5
Bill Cunningham did a wonderful commentary in the Sunday New York Times on 5th Avenues Xmas windows, so I went out for another look....
I forgot to show you the BIG star on the cross section of 57th and 5th Avenue...
And the lighted trees in front of The Plaza Hotel...
YIKES! The Big Tree at Rockefeller Center!
How could I miss that?!
Cartier's has opening and closeing drawers full of diamond treasures....
Chess anyone at Bergdorfs?
A little night music?
Ah, to be a Queen in Bendels windows...
Or a mouse santa riding a fab shoe at Bendels....
And accompanied by a full mouse orchestra...
The Big red Xmas balls on Avenue of the Americas-mustn't forget those!
Or this wall of Xmas balls in Anthropologie's windows....waiting to be put away?
Here's a terrific book on New York's monuments, originally published in 1926, Up & Down New York , but still timeless.
And don't forget to pop in on Bill Cunningham's amusing chat!
HAPPY HOLS!

Snail Greetings

Bird Mail,
watercolor on Etsy, 5.5" x 7.5
Are you tearing around trying to get everything done for the holidays?
Bergdorf Goodmans has a bank of witty windows on 57th street about holiday communications. Remember when we used to write letters? And remember when you taped out your letters. Or let your fingers do the dailing. Of course there's always messenger service... No more Pony Express though. Or you could let your assistant take care of your holiday greetings. We used to be dependent on the town cryer. Well someone was...ahemOperator, operator, could you help me place this call?

Have you tried taking your pet to the post office?
Snail mail!

This morning BBC Martin Plimmer talked about the ever-increasing pace of life and ways to stem the tide.
SLOW DOWN FOR GAWD'S SAKE!!!!
BONNE MANANA!

Tiffanys Little Blue Box

Tiffanys Little Blue Box,watercolor on Etsy, sold 5.5" x 7.5
Yesterday Di Overton said....I love Tiffany's windows anytime of the year.
Tiffany only has 4 small Xmas windows...
Inside is very grand and huge, but no pictures are allowed, so back outside...
The window on the corner of 57th street and 5th avenue has a giant peacock guarding a silver what..keg? Qui sait:)
Around on 57th street this golden casket to house your diamonds..?
Whilst a paper chandelier tries to out shine a crystal chandelier...
Enfin! The little blue box we all love to covet...
This icy goddess is keeping watch...
Well two icy goddesses keep watch...
Over this icy version of the little blue box...
A real blue box sporting a tiny charm bracelet...
Bye bye Tiffanys.
I bet this very minute they're already planning next years windows!
BON MARDI!
